This mug features a fashion illustration circa 1776-1787 (given the extreme height of the hairstyles, which were especially popular during those years), from the Gallerie des Mode et Costumes Francais (Gallery of French Fashion and Costumes), by an anonymous artist.

This publication, created between 1778 and 1787, is considered one of the earliest and most comprehensive fashion magazines, offering a detailed look into the clothing and accessories of the French aristocracy and bourgeoisie during the reign of Louis XVI. The Gallerie des Modes was highly influential in shaping fashion trends, as it not only depicted current styles but also helped spread them throughout Europe.

Inspired by vintage fashion plates from the late 1700s, this mug showcases the opulence and charm of French aristocratic style. The detailed artwork captures towering coiffures adorned with feathers, flowers, and jewels, making it a perfect statement piece for lovers of historical fashion and art.

This image depicts a collection of 18th-century French fashion prints showcasing elaborate hairstyles and headdresses worn by women of the time. Such fashion plates were popular during the late 18th century, especially in France, and often reflected the opulent, extravagant styles of the Rococo period.

In this specific artwork, each of the four women is adorned with towering, elaborate hairstyles featuring decorative elements such as feathers, flowers, ribbons, and jewels. These styles were typical of the mid-18th century, especially during the reign of Marie Antoinette, who was known for setting extravagant fashion trends.

These types of illustrations were often used in fashion magazines or books of the time to present the latest styles to wealthy women looking for inspiration. Such prints not only highlighted the hairstyles but also gave a glimpse into the lavish materials and designs worn by the upper class.
