Marie Antoinette's "Views of the Temple of Love" Watercolor Art Print, Elegant Historical French Art for Home Wall Decor | FRAME NOT INCLUDED
Transport yourself to the beauty of Marie Antoinette's private chateau with this exquisite 18th century watercolor fine art print "Views of the Temple of Love" in the gardens of the Petit Trianon in Versailles. The original watercolor was painted in 1786 for Marie Antoinette by Richard Mique.
The Temple of Love was designed by architect Richard Mique in 1778. Mique was a prominent architect in the service of Marie Antoinette, and he was responsible for much of the design of her private retreat at the Petit Trianon.
The Temple of Love, built in a classical style, features a circular colonnade and a central statue of Cupid, symbolizing love. It was part of Marie Antoinette's desire to create an idyllic and intimate retreat away from the formalities of the court at Versailles.
This watercolor painting was included in the book "Views and Plans of the Petit Trianon at Versailles". This book presents the watercolors of "Trianon", Marie Antoinette's estate, which were commissioned by Marie Antoinette for the albums she gave to visiting royalty to whom she offered Fetes in the Trianon gardens. These watercolors were executed by Claude-Louis Chatelet and Richard Mique around 1785-1786 and bound into albums. Four are known to to have survived. The 26 watercolors and plans reproduced in the book are exquisite testimonials of the pavilions, fabriqhues and gardens which were built for Marie Antoinette at the Trianon and include "Views of the Temple of Love" and more.
Perfect for those who appreciate historical art and elegance, this art print adds a touch of sophistication to any room. Ideal for art lovers, history enthusiasts, and those who enjoy French culture.
